How to Enable Closed Captioning

How to Enable Closed Captions

1.Log into your webinar and select theEdittab.

2.In the left-hand menu that appears, selectAdvanced Settings.Using the CTRL-F or scroll function, findEnable Closed Caption,then selectEnable.


3.Once enabled, select the languages attendees can see closed captions in, limiting their language options to choose from during the event.Select which languages you want attendees to choose from in theClosed Caption Display Languagedropdown menu.When finished, clickSave.

Note:When no languages are selected, attendees will have the option to choose from all languages

How attendees can turn on closed captioning

If closed captioning is enabled during a session, theCCicon will appear in the top right hand corner of the webinar room.Click this button to turn on closed captioning for the session.Closed captioning is available for bothInteractive and Webcast mode*

A dropdown featuring the languages you selected will display those options from that icon (Full options include: English, Spanish, French, French (Canada), Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), German, Russian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Swedish, Greek, Czech, Arabic, Hungarian, Hindi, Indonesian, Hebrew, Malay, Filipino, Romanian).Attendees will click their preferred display language.Once a language is selected, closed captioning for the session will appear in this language.

How can attendees turn on closed captioning in Interactive mode?

Note: Closed Captioning is only available inone languagein Interactive Mode*

In Interactive Mode, attendees and presenters will be able to turn on/off closed captions by clicking the CC icon and using the three dots to select which language they would like them to display in.Closed captions willonlydisplay to the attendee or presenter who click the CC button.

In Interactive webinars, closed captions will only display in the language chosen for theClosed Caption Original Language.

Can I adjust my closed caption keywords?

Yes!On your Channel's settings, you are able to change certain keywords that are captured during recordings to other words.For example, if your recording says "virtual event" and you would prefer "digital event", you can set "virtual" to be replaced with "digital"

In your Channel Settings, click to theClosed Caption Adjustmentssection.From there, you can add aNew Adjustment, select the language, and enter the keywords or phrases you'd like to have adjusted.

Categorize these based on languages, as clickingAddwill add a new target word/phrase field to enter in under that specific language.Once saved, you can see all your languages that have adjustments and canEditfrom there.

Can I View Analytics of my Closed Captions?

Yes!View attendees who used closed captions and what language the closed captions were in for live, on-demand and evergreen webinars.When viewing your reports, you are able to see the attendee's name and what language of closed caption they used under the Closed Captions column.

In Live and Evergreen Webinars, this is found under theAttend Listsection and in On-Demand webinars, this is under theViewed Recording Listsection.
